Installing a chimney seal can prevent heated or cooled ambient (interior) air from escaping via the flue or chimney hole and keep out rain, debris, dust, insects, moths, and animals in any home with a fireplace, especially a Victorian one.
By preventing hot air masses from entering via the flue hole in the summer and preventing an icy drought from entering in the winter, a chimney damper aids in regulating room temperature.

The VEU program now offers incentives for weatherproofing goods and installation. All Victorian homes are qualified for the weatherproofing modifications and rebates, with the exception of those with ventless fireplaces.
